Organizing Your Daily Use Desk
There is no place like home, but there certainly is one place we spend more time at rather than at home – the workplace. More or less, everyone is concerned about the tidiness and organization of their homes but when it comes to workplaces, their attitudes are very different. Most wokplace desks are found to be very messy and unorganized. Stationary, papers, ink refill needs, inkjet cartridges, sticky notes and so many more things scattered above the surface of work desks. Not only does it look inappropriate, it also makes it hard to get something the instant you need it. Some people do take out the time to clean and arrange their desks every now and then. Still, there are people who fail to understand the importance of an arranged table. With the tables not properly arranged, it is simple to get it messy within minutes after setting everything in place. When you need something, you may need to mix up everything up and down again since you haven’t set a location for it.
So, you have to learn to organize your table in a way that everything is easy to get to and set. Not only does that reduce the time needed of a task, but also makes a good impression of your personality. So, here are a few hints that will make the work life much easier for you:
• Firstly being with removing everything off your table. You’d be surprised to see how much space it really has.
• Get rid of all needles items like worthless printouts, rough papers, outdated notes, extra pencils, useless pens, etc. Toss away anything that you are not going to use. No matter how beautiful it looks, throw it away without any second thoughts.
• Set your PC or workstation back. Put your telephone on the side of the hand that you mostly use. Copy the details in a spiral phone book and get rid of all the extra contact cards. You can also utilize this spiral book to write down vital notes before making the call. This lowers the time you need on call.
• Sort items in general categories like stationary, papers, pocket stuff and store them in separate drawers. If your table does not have any drawers, it is best to utilize separate containers or boxes for various stuff.
• Your stuff should be reachable according to use. Most commonly used items like pens or pencils can be placed in a box over the table. The stationary less used should be in one drawer and papers in another.
• Electronic stuff such as printers, scanners and modems must not placed over the surface and keep them down the table or anywhere else when not in use. It is good to have a book shelf to hold such equipment and other big stuff despite the frequency of usage.
• Lastly, take a little time out of your daily timetable or five minutes before you go and reorganize you desk. It won’t take much of time and attempts if done every day.
