Dog Health – Tips So You Can Make Your Puppy Healthier
Dog Health – Increasing the Energy Levels of Your Puppy the Natural Way
Does your puppy have the attention span of a two-year-old child? And does he seem a little too fatigued and tired throughout the day? If you have already taken your dog to the veterinarian for a full examination and he checks out okay, you may want to take it upon yourself to help increase his energy levels and attention span by going the “natural” route.
Of course animal medicines do have their place, but if your veterinarian does not see a major health problem then your best choice is to follow some of the guidelines below to get your puppy feeling better and acting more alert:
3. As long as your puppy is more than six weeks old, try reducing his feeding times to only twice per day. In an attempt to keep our puppies growing and healthy, some dog owners make the mistake of overfeeding the little pups, which can result in lethargic energy levels as well as very short attention spans. You can help your puppy by cutting back on his meals.
1. Do not buy the cheap dog food. There is an important reason for this. The cheap dog foods are made up of mostly carbohydrates which are not good for the puppy. On the other hand, the good and well-known brand names are mostly comprised of protein which is exactly what your puppy needs to grow up strong and have plenty of energy to make it through the day.
2. You may try supplements, but always consult with the puppy’s veterinarian prior to starting any supplement routines. In most cases though, the most suggested supplement that a dog owner can give to his or her puppy is that of brewers yeast which is filled with lots of protein and vitamin B which is exactly what your puppy needs for energy.

4. Make sure that the food you are feeding the puppy has a digestible level greater than that of 85%. You can do this by reading the food’s label and looking for the protein levels. Remember, a dog is a carnivore, to an herbivore and for that reason, you want to make sure that he is getting enough meat (protein) in his diet to make it through the day.
5. Omega 3 is a great thing for your puppy as well. Just like people, puppies benefit from the ingestion of Omega 3 by giving them more energy as well as a shinier coat. Omega 3 can be found in a number of sources such as fish oil or flaxseed oil and I am sure that you will find that your puppy simply loves the fishy taste of Omega 3.
6. Instead of feeding your dog a couple large meals throughout the day, try spreading his meals up and instead give him a number of small snacks all throughout the day. Nibbling on food rather than inhaling large quantities has been proven to lower stress levels in virtually any animal and therefore is a good natural way to help relax your dog.
7. Lastly you also have Bach’s Rescue Remedy which is similar to Kava and also can be found in almost any health store. Make sure that you follow the dosage recommendations when you give this or Kava to your dog to ensure that they are not over-dosed. Once again, add this to your dog’s water bowl and sit back and relax.
