Posted on March 13th, 2010

Life is a complete circle. Who arrives, has to leave one day. In the technological era of today, it not only is important to live green, but it is also important to die green. What is meant here is that staying environment friendly is a need that should continue till your final breath. Anything you have done throughout your life in saving the earth should not go down the drain after your death. For the strong reimbursement of the environment, Green burial are increasingly being very familiar. There are several reasons why a Green cemetery is replacing cremation and other modes of burial. The most notable of it is being environment friendly.

More than just being economical and inexpensive, this mode of a funeral will totally justify your love to the dead. As much as you lay emphasis on green living, dying green should be similarly given preference to. If we collect all the embalming solution used, it is not surprising that it will fill eight of the Olympic-size swimming pools. Now that is way too much!

According to a reaearch it has been proved that there are more than 22,500 cemeteries that use around 827,060 gallons of embalming fluid on the dead bodies of their dear ones. Embalming fluids contain a number of chemicals like formaldehyde, disinfectants, methanol, phenols, dyes and etc, that are not very advantageous to the soil. Furthermore, these chemicals seep down till the ground water level and may lead to serious illnesses when taken in with water.

Now the question develops, why should we select a green burial when we can simply pay for an expensive one? The answer to this is very simple and explainable. Even though the person is dead, but it feels great to make him cozy even in his burial place. You would like your loved one to rest in peace, so you must make it peaceful for him in there. A biodegradable casket, with a bedspread over it, will definitely give you a satisfactory sense that your dear one is resting in harmony. More to this would be a soothing picture of the grave under a flower bed of different flowers and shrubs that enclose the dead. Even though a metal coffin with a heavy crypt will appear nice at the ceremony, it will not be able to complete the circle of life as efficiently as a green burial will.

Lastly, the nature has to play its role. The body has to return back to the ground to give back the nutrients it is made of. The environment needs to be conserved for the prospecting generations to come. Non-renewable supplies used in a customery burial will not only cease down the natural growth, but also they will prove to be very unhealthy for the individuals years later. Therefore, a solution to keep it all according to the nature’s own technique, is an environment friendly burial. Even though it may seem like a tag line now, but it is about time that we should understand this; save the Earth!
