Still, pressure from consumers is beginning to require the FDA to deliberately consider its current ban on stevia sweetener as a food additive.  In fact, some forms of stevia have recently been classified to be used as a food additive.</p>
<p>Most importantly, stevia contains zero calories and that is helpful to everyone, especially those that are diabetic or on a low carbohydrate diet.  It is understood that stevia is nutritious for the pancreas, which can help perpetuate normal blood sugar levels.
