Driveway Deicer And Tactical Boots: Gifts For Men?

Posted on November 7th, 2008

Gifts baskets are cool, but can you give one to a man? Of course you can, but it takes a little more thought than just some creams and lotions like you see in women’s gift bags and baskets. In fact, forget about the idea of a gift basket and just go for the overall group gift. Instead of putting one item in a box, place several related items together as a large present.
For a man, you have to think outside the box, or basket that is.

Themed baskets for men always work well; for example baseball – might include a team replica ball, some snack foods normally eaten at ball games like peanuts, popcorn and candy. Decorate the basket in team colors and include a team pendant. Most men love candy and snack foods so fill a basket with his favorite food items including hard candies, chocolates, salty snack bags, and gum. A golf basket may include golf tees and balls, a filled in score card with high marks, shoelaces and a favorite brand of sunglasses.

The basket designed for a man can be something that fits his style. If he is a handy man around the house pick up a paint bucket and glue pictures of tools on it. Fill the bucket with his favorite snacks (cookies, candy, gum, crackers) and throw in a couple of movie passes or game passes and you have a perfect gift basket (bucket). If your man is a golfer instead of a basket use a smaller insulated cooler and fill it with candy golf balls, cookies, hard candies, his favorite coffee beans, and toss in some golf tees, golf balls and a golf hat.

Not every gift for a man needs to include food either. If your guy works outside, perhaps a new pair of tactical boots stuffed with fresh warm socks and some gloves would be a nice replacement. If he likes lawn and landscaping, some lawn treatment items may be in order, or for winter, a bucket of ice melter and snow shovel may be an appreciated gift.

I know we are getting out of the realm of gift baskets here, but you are getting the picture. There are also any number of small items to stuff around your chosen gift bucket. Here are some personalized gift items to include in any themed or hobby gift basket for men:
*personalized money clip
*photo frame
*MP3 Player
*coffee travel mug
*music downloads

The idea is to offer a bunch of small gifts, all personalized for him. With men, you really can’t go wrong.

Help The Longlivity Of Your Work Computer With Screen Protection

Posted on November 7th, 2008

Screen protectors are designed by their manufacturers to cater to any problem regarding the screen damage of your machine, be it the laptop, LCD or the simple desktop monitors. With the help of these screen protectors, we can prevent our screen from being damaged by the scratches or dents that occur over them, on several occasions, due to our own negligence. You must make sure that you make use of these screen protectors, in order to reduce extra efforts from your part to keep the screen safe.

Most of these protectors, used for Screen protection are made up of thick polyesters or the thin and strong urethane layer, which do not allow any scratches to land on the screen. This helps us to maintain a proper vision, on the display, and allowing us to work efficiently enough with them. Even while the machines are being transported from one place to another, they are coated with the screen protection so as to keep them safe against any damages, which could occur due to the jerking.

As far as the automotive sector is concerned, they would be glad to have a screen protector for their systems because these machines are used in places, where there is tremendous quantity of dust. This could get attached to the corners or above the screen, giving us trouble to view the screen properly. If we were to have a screen protector over the display, then it would prevent the deposition of any dirt or dust over it; even if there was, it could be removed by the help of any regular cleanser without damaging the screen.

We may notice that in several fast food establishments people make use of machines, to keep track of the items that are being dealt with. Each of these items, have to be recorded with the detailed specifications, by the person working on that work station. It is understood that being a fast food joint it is possible that some sauce or food may get spilled or splashed, over the display screen. Having a Lcd screen protector under such situations would be of great help, as we can easily wipe out the waste from the screen.

If we have screen protectors on our display, we need not worry about any objects getting spilled over it and damaging it through smudges. Thus, in places like automotive sectors and fast food joints it is very essential that you maintain screen protection by all means.

Have A Green Holiday Season!

Posted on November 6th, 2008

Actually, I love a white Christmas with plenty of fresh powder covering the ground and trees Christmas morning. What I’m talking about is environmental conservation and how you can incorporate this philosophy into this holiday season.

First of all, it is no secret that a lot of people do a lot of shopping around the holidays. One of the easiest things you can to to be a little “greener” this year is take a reusable grocery bag or two with you for your trips to the mall instead of bringing home a bunch of paper and plastic bags.

Second, consider purchasing a live tree. Doing so will give you the best of both worlds when you purchase a potted evergreen for your Christmas tree. You get the wonderful aroma of pine in your house, yet you aren’t wasting a tree. After Christmas, you can plant the tree in your yard or contact your local parks and recreation as they are always looking for new trees. If you can’t plant the tree right away because the ground is frozen, you can water it and keep it alive until you can. Or, plan ahead and dig your hole for the tree now while the ground is still soft enough to dig.

Third, consider how you handle gift wrapping your gifts this year, or…lack there of, really. Wrapping paper is a huge waste of trees. Instead, try these creative ideas. reusable bags have become all the rage. You can purchase some bags already decorated, but you can also decorate them yourself with iron-on applications and other embellishments such as buttons or beading. When you’re done, you’ll have a creative package that’s reusable too! Baskets are also fabulous because they can be used for storage and organizing after the gift is given. Use natural materials such as rafia, twine and even scraps from your yard to decorate gifts.

Children’s gifts can be wrapped in a new blanket, pajamas or even clothing to keep the gift disguised enough so that they are still surprised when they unwrap it. You can also use some of the cardboard boxes that the gifts came in to package the gifts. Decorate the outside of the boxes with paint or other trimmings.

Finally, we all love to decorate our houses, so do your part to do so in the greenest way possible. L.E.D. lighting is available to replace the old energy eating Christmas lights. They may be a bit costly, however, they are brighter so you don’t need as many, and you’ll also save big on your electric bill so the up front expense will be recouped later.

There are also a plethora of decorations in your own backyard. Branches and clippings can be dusted with glue and glitter and arranged in your home. You can vine together many yard trimmings and berries and make a beautiful garland or wreath.

Buyers Guide For Screen Covers

Posted on November 5th, 2008

Nowadays, our life is incomplete without electronic devices like iPod or cell phones or computers etc. Cell phones and computers have become a part and parcel of our life and to protect our electronic devices is our first and foremost duty. Suppose, you bought a new cell phone and you want it to be as it is for a longer period of time then you have to protect it from scratches. And for their Screen protection your basic requirement is a screen protector. Screen protectors are adequate but are never long lasting and you need to replace it frequently.

Why you should buy screen protector?

Screen protectors are required because it protects your devices against scratching. The materials used for making screen protector are clear and ultra thin plastic which adheres to the devices through static cling and doesn’t leave any residue when removed. Hard coated Polyester prevents scratches and extends life of the devices. Antiglare properties of this material improve visibility. New screen protectors like invisible SHIELD are made from urethane film and are more durable than the other screen protectors.

What you should look in screen protectors?

Check the followings benefits in the screen protectors before go for purchasing one:

1. A screen protector must be abrasion and chemical resistant.
2. It must guard your LCD screen against scratches, dents, dings and more and act as a LCD screen protector.
3. During daily use or shipping or travel screen protectors protects the laptop screens.
4. Screen protectors do not require any special cleaning process and you can use common household things to clean them which normally ruin laptop or desktop screens.
5. Screen protectors can be disinfected easily by using germicidal sprays and wipes.
6. Screen protectors should have an easy application and no bubbles.
7. It stays in its place on notebook computer and laptop even when they are closed.
8. Some screen protector covers the body of the devices entirely and acts as a protector cover just like the cases.

Most Screen protectors are as cheap as $10 and over $20 for covering full body. The higher price is counterbalanced by more protection and longevity. Measurements of the screen protectors are done diagonally. So, if you need a screen protector then measure accurately the size of your screen and give your device longer durability.

How To Convert Your Car To Run On Water

Posted on November 5th, 2008

All over the world, there is a similar cry for help or despair and it’s about the rising fuel prices, a never-ending, life-taking high fuel prices and it’s really a global concern now. Here in the States, this is the prime concern and issue and it seems that everyone is swimming in the raging waters of recession. Talking about water, don’t you know that the best alternative fuel for your car especially in this time of financial turmoil is water? Yes, you can actually convert your car to run on water & it’s made possible by people who endlessly think of ways to save money and at the same time, save the environment. Actually, this kind of idea had been concocted by individuals in separate incidents. In the Philippines, an auto mechanic found a way to run his vehicle on water. In Thailand, someone also made this invention and right now, here in the States, it is also possible, too. But because some people in “higher stature” are worried about their kickbacks, they did not approve it but now, it’s made possible through Internet Marketing.

The Evolution Of Bras Through Time

The Evolution of the Bra through Time by Carnival Wholesale Bras

Women wear bras for different reasons. However, the most common reasons are to support and uplift the breasts. Before the creation of the lacy and seductive bras that you have now, this underwear used to be very complicated garments for the women. Below is a brief outline of the evolution of the bra through the years. We at Carnival Wholesale Bras and Wholesale Lingerie hope you find this information helpful.

The Bra-Like Garments in 2500 BC

Way back 2500 BC and maybe beyond this era, the women have actually been wearing bras. The Minoan women were already sporting garments that resemble a bra. These are worn to lift their breasts out from their clothes. After many years, the women from ancient Greece and Rome used another approach of wearing bra support. They strapped their chest with a band in order to lessen the size of their bust.

The Double Purpose of the Corsets in the 1550s

In the year 1550, the wife of a king in France banned individuals during court attendances to have thick waists. Catherine de Medicis started the torture of the midriff, which has run for more than 350 years. This torture is known as the corset. It is designed to make the waist narrow to incredible sizes of 13 to 10 inches, and even lesser. Another purpose of the corset is to lift the breasts.

The Less Painful Bra Evolution during the Years 1875 to 1893

In the year 1875, the corset has taken a less painful turn. George Phelps and George Frost are responsible for having “emancipated union under flannel” patented. This undergarment is believed to have no eyelets, bones, pulleys, and laces. After several years, the bra evolved into another creation. Marie Tucek is the one who patented “breast supporter.” This bra serves as the first outfit that is almost the equivalent to the recent style of bras that are sold in the market during the present times. The “breast supporter” of Marie Tucek uses shoulder straps. Its closure makes use of the hook & eye. The breasts are supported within fabric pockets.

The Start of the Brassiere in 1907

It was in the year 1907 when magazines for women started to use the term “brassiere” to refer to the undergarment that supports the breasts. This term wins a place within the dictionary of Oxford English.

Another Turn of the Corset in 1913

A clever and young socialite from New York comes up with her own corset design. In 1913, Mary Phelps Jacob designed a replacement of the old corset out of ribbon and two handkerchiefs, which are made from silk. She impressed several individuals with this novel conception that she is urged to patent her design. Indeed, the “backless brassiere” receives a patent in November 3, 1914.

After having this new corset design patented, Mary produced hundreds of it. She marketed her products with the label “Caresse Crosby.” However, her business collapsed because it lacks publicity. With this, she sells the patent for $1,500 to a corset company, which is Warner Brother’s. During the present times, Warner Brother’s leads the market of bra manufacturing.

The More Modern Evolutions of the Bra

1928 – Ida Rosenthal, who is a Russian entrepreneur, improved the design of the bra through the introduction of cup sizes. She also introduced bras for women of all ages.

1934 – The appearance of the first bra that does not have straps. Months after, bras are incorporated with wires to provide the breasts more silhouette. This is followed by padded bras, push-up bras, and bras of different styles.

1935 – Warner Brothers incorporated the A – D bra cup sizing system. These bras are added to its lines of American bras.

1937 – With the invention of nylon, it becomes the customary material that is utilized to manufacture bras.

1948 – The market has available push-up bras. What is more, USA sees the birth of sports bras.

1950 – The conical bra makes way for pointy sweater look. Britain followed the A – D bra cup sizing system. On the other hand, bras become lighter, easier to clean and wash, and prettier.

1968 – Wonderbras are introduced into the market.

1970 – Bras are replaced with mesh tubes, with the year seeing a lot of braless women.

The last years of 20th century – Women are surrounded with several types of bra. This undergarment becomes a complicated lingerie piece, with more than forty components.

21st century – Scientists from Australia announced their invention of a smart brassier prototype. On the other hand, Julia Roberts makes the bra “ultimo silicon” famous in her film “Erin Brokovich.” A book is also written to educate women on how to make themselves look great and feel comfortable in their bras.

Wind Turbine Power Projects And Wind Energy Knowns And Unknowns

Posted on November 4th, 2008

Wind power is more expensive to produce than power from coal and natural gas. This is because electricity is only produced when the wind is blowing and it often isn’t, and because the number of kilowatts produced varies depending on wind speed and direction.

Nevertheless, commercial wind turbines are being manufactured and installed world-wide by the main industrialized countries as a part of an international drive to both reduce atmospheric pollution, which causes climate change, and in consideration of the depletion of oil & gas stocks and their increasing cost.

The UK government is providing fiscal support for renewable power and the current main support mechanism is the Renewables Obligation (RO). The RO requires electricity generators to source an increasing percentage of the UK’s total electricity supply from renewable energy sources or pay an equivalent value which is re-cycled to renewable providers. This is encouraging the energy companies to install their own renewable sources.

Wind power generation is the lowest per kilowatt at the turbine of any of the large renewable resource other than some hydro schemes. However, it will require a big infrastructure spend for all nations that extend their systems to become a major power source. Rarely will the windy places also coincide with centers of population – the power users, so extensive and hugely costly new transmission systems will be needed. So, overall costs will largely depend on available wind speed, required rate of return on investment (discount rate), world turbine prices (which may become inflated due to an impossibly high demand) and infrastructure. The present experience in costs is likely to continue were costs are highly variable between projects and location, size, etc.

The most transparent prices for onshore wind were provided in the information from the last years (1998/9) of the previous UK support mechanism (Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation, NFFO). It has been clear that areas of high electricity demand with lower wind speeds, e.g. south-east England, require higher prices for commercial viability.

Operating a wind farms in the ocean is more costly than operating one on land, most experts will admit, no matter how much the larger scale of offshore turbines will help. Factoring in the added difficulties and extra costs of transporting and installing on the sea floor several dozen 80-meter-tall wind turbines, the expense of running underwater electrical cables from the turbines back to shore, and the extra safeguards needed to protect the turbines from the force of ocean waves means that the cost can be 50 to 100 percent higher for offshore wind than onshore wind, one expert says.

In the US renewable wind energy can be a cost-effective addition to the main windy regions energy supplies. Production costs average 4 – 5 cents per kilowatt-hour. So also, as in Europe, wind power is starting to be backed by more and more respected industrialists. For example, Boone Pickens is creating a 4,000 Megawatt wind farm in west Texas, and states that he could continue creating farms like this all up the mid-west wind corridor all the way to Canada.

So, in Europe at least, wind power will have to be heavily subsidized by the taxpayer. As we all know you cannot store electricity big costs will be incurred keeping oil and gas power stations available for those days when there is no wind. Operation of units in a regional thermal power system have been investigated and quantified by means of modelling. Furthermore, the possibility to reduce the influence from wind power variations by means of introducing a variation moderator or demand side management will need to be evaluated in each region ans state.

Support for wind power needs to go hand in hand with a push for much greater energy efficiency in transport, households use, and the public sector.

However, wind power whether at large scale or micro turbine is a clean energy source that can be relied on for the long-term future. A wind turbine creates reliable, cost-effective, pollution free energy and it is certainly here to stay.

It’s Not Too Late For A Winterizer Lawn Treatment

Posted on November 3rd, 2008

It’s not too late to get that final lawn treatment down before old man winter pours on the snow. In fact, now is an ideal time to start thinking about next year.
A winterizer lawn treatment is important for the overall health of your turf. The reason for this is that snow melts in spring (obviously) and soaks the winterizing fertilizer right down into the soil where the grass can use it to recover. A solid winterizing lawn treatment will ensure your lawn is the first to green up when warmer temperatures prevail in early March.

The key to winterizing is to use a granular fertilizer that is lower nitrogen and higher in potassium and phosphorus. These elements serve to strengthen the grass root structure, creating density and thickness. A thicker lawn will resist other problems that can invade through the season.

The only thing you need to be concerned with this time of year is frost. You never want to walk on frozen grass as this can crack the crowns and kill sections of the lawn. If you are going to lay down that final fall treatment as recommended, be sure to do it on a sunny afternoon when there is no frost present on the lawn.

This post was short and sweet, but oh so important. Get out this weekend and winterize your lawn before it is covered in snow!

Energy Alternatives With Earth4energy

Posted on November 1st, 2008

Coal power is still cheaper that every other alternative, at about 5 cents per kWh. But according to a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), that would rise to 8 cents if the CO2 from coal-fired power stations had to be captured and stored underground or, for that matter, if a carbon tax of $30 a tonne were imposed (or people decide to build their own generators with earth4energy). Coal power is no longer an environmentally viable solution to anyone other than those who have been making money from it at the expense of the environment for years. But let’s just watch them dig their nails in and throw money at it. Coal power is a mid to late stage cancer that is killing the world, animals, plants and hundreds of thousands of people every year. Even the doubters cannot say that the mountain forests (plants) have not been removed.

Coal power is a reality today, and it is an energy source we are making a major investment in to make it as clean as possible. The new combined heat and power plant is very energy efficient and will replace the Wedel power plant, built in the beginning of the 1960s, which will be closed and torn down, but not if they would have used earth4energy. Coal power is cheap, especially when oil prices spike. And that’s one reason (growing car and truck use is another) why it will be a real challenge to enforce Connecticut’s ground-breaking global warming bill, which passed both houses of the state legislature last week and awaits an expected government signature.

Coal power is likely to become increasingly expensive in comparison to clean energy sources. Regulation of carbon dioxide emissions through a pollution tax is under serious consideration in Congress right now. Coal power is hands-down the largest single source of global greenhouse gas emissions, and these new plants are only the start. Coal power is not only a nonrenewable resource, but also generates immense amounts of pollution, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide.

Coal power is also used as a basic industry source for making steel, cement and paper, and is used in numerous other industries as well, like earth4energy. As the first concentrated energy source to be used by man, coal fueled the Industrial Revolution and lifted the burden of labor from the backs of men and animals. Coal power is an important part of many national energy policies, but its use has negative environmental impacts. Participants in an August ECO-Asia workshop considered how to meet future energy demands while moving towards cleaner and more efficient technologies. Coal power is on the way out , and renewable energy is moving in. Al Gore recently raised the bar on the clean energy time-line, calling for 100% renewable energy within 10 years.
